Value, location (2 minute walk to Kyoto station). Tip: If you book a room in this hotel for two people - or in any relatively low-priced hotel in a major Japanese city - if you can afford the difference, book a twin, not a double. You'll get more space to put your luggage, and you'll be certain that one of you doesn't have to crawl along the wall to get into bed (as is necessary if the double bed is pushed against the wall, as is often the case).
Very limited space to put anything down in bathroom - ok to get teeny bathroom in major Japanese city at the bargain price, but would be great if had a bit of extra shelfspace.

The staff's prompt assistance in retrieving my lost backpack made our stay lovely. Their friendliness and willingness to help were amazing.

Staff very helpful and courteous. Room was very clean. Location of hotel was excellent, in front of the railway station. Wired Internet included.
Room was tiny - it included a double bed and a gap about 1 foot wide around 2 edges. That was all. If you sit at the desk the chair touches the bed, so unless the chair was placed under the desk you could not walk around the bed at all. Also, the tv included only Japanese language channels. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone but a Japanese speaker, and certainly not to a tall person.

This has got to be the best location in Kyoto for the price. It is exactly across the street from Kyoto Station and the bullet train platforms and the city bus terminal is adjacent to the train station.
The chair for the desk (I brought my laptop) had padding about as thick as a piece of paper and after just a few minutes it was very uncomfortable -- like sitting on a piece of plywood.

I highly recommend Hotel Vista because it's very central, just outside the Kyoto train station and subway. After a long journey, finding the hotel just outside the train station was bliss. Plus if you want to get around Nara, Osaka, etc all trains leave from there and the centre is 5 minutes away by subway (approx 3 stops) The hotel is very clean and luxurious for the price I paid. There are a lot of restaurants, cafes and bakeries at the station so whatever you feel like eating till 10pm is just across the road. I will definitely recommend it to family and friends and I hope to go again!

proximity to Kyoto Station, nearby 7-Eleven shop, availability of laundry facilities
TV channels limited to BBC in English only!!! The laundry machines need actual fabric softener, as clothes came out smelling off!!! Rooms could use a serious deep clean, dust in corners and outdated appearance!!!

Ubication. Staff friendliness. Front desk is at third floor (privacy when entering and leaving hotel).
I reserved for a non-smoking room but they actually gave me a smoking one. Not sure if it is Booked.net's fault or theirs.

Room is too small, and outside the window is all of wall ! We offer to change the room, and they said must to add money ,we donot agree, then, we are arranged to the smaller room which usually just for single person.

New, clean hotel, perfectly located across the road from the station. Room is small, but to be expected in Japan. Guest laundry is great for us on a longer trip.

We loved the convenient location with easy access to Kyoto Station. The nearby AEON Mall made shopping easy, and the clean rooms were perfect for our large family. Plus, breakfast was decent and gave us a good start each day.
In my wife's opinion, the room size was a bit cramped for our family.

The staff at reception were very helpful and they actually have an English speaking person on duty. The room was a bit small (which was expected of in Japan) but very clean and tidy. Right opposite the hotel is Kyoto Station with trains and buses and underground shopping streets, so you can imagine how convenient it is.
The heating was a bit too hot, and being Spring, the central system only provides heating and no cooling. I had to turn off the heating completely and open the window when initially entered the room.
